Worthy of a John Stossel 20/20 Episode, not a 350-page book

Date of Review:  Feb 18, 2001
The Bottom Line: The basic insight is helpful for us non-millionaires to increase our chance of becoming millionaires, but there is little here to help retool your own financial situation.
Review: [ general impression ]
My initial reaction after completing this book was, is that all? Don?t get me wrong, the basic concept of ?savers? becoming the millionaires is well supported but it doesn?t provide any payoff in this book. Any of these...

It Still Takes a Lot of Work

Date of Review:  May 15, 2000
Review: This book doesn't give you any magical formula to become a millionaire, it takes a lot of work. But it has a lot of great points about why a lot of the people you would most expect to be millionaires aren't and those you would least expect are.

You Can Die A Millionaire! (Just Don't Live Like One)

Date of Review:  Oct 10, 2000
Review: Be frugal! Save, don't spend! Live well below your means! There. I've just summarized the bulk of the "profound" advice in this book in a nutshell. The Millionaire Next Door is long on the demographics of who today's millionaires are. It's short and...

Excellent treatise; unneeded long book

Date of Review:  Apr 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: Excellent reinforcement of the "live below you means" concept and plenty of facts to back it up, but rather long and dry as it progresses past the first few chapters.
Review: The first couple chapters of this book should be required reading for all high school students so they will know the truth of wealth distribution in this country. The rest of the book is just filler. It is definitely eye opening and demonstrates the...

Millionaire Has Value for Many

Date of Review:  Jan 3, 2001
Review: It seems that the book 'The Millionaire Next Door" has received very mixed views as to its intrinsic value. I personally derived a great deal of wisdom from reading this book, but that is most likely due to my financial profile.

As a child,...

Wouldn't We All Like To Be The Millionaire Next Door!!

Date of Review:  Apr 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: This is a good book and I would recommend it. I would hope that many of these principles are already known by people.
Review: "The Millionaire Next Door" is an interesting look at the subject of how people become wealthy in America. The authors say that it is rarely from an inheritance, advanced degrees or even intelligence that builds a huge fortune. Instead wealth is...

Great financial book.

Date of Review:  Sep 9, 2009
The Bottom Line: Great investment book.
Review: This is a really great written book and really well written. There is always a pretty good chance that we all live right next door to a multi millionaire and don't even realize it because nowadays a lot of them live just like everyone else. This...
