Better than any movie

This is an altogether excting and attention keeping book. No movie could ever capture what Dumas wrote down. From page one to page last the story just keeps on coming. There are no slow parts.

Unlike some books where you don't know where one character starts and the others end unless the author tells you, D'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and Planchet are distinct from one another and easy to keep track of. They are also not shallow. The Good Guys are really good, but even so, a little bad. And the Bad Guys are really bad, but you can see where they are coming from. (Then there is that one Really Bad Guy who would have been a good match for Claude Frollo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. They could be like the Joker and Catwoman)

I always thought that this was a book for little kids. Right up until I read it. Now I see that it would get a NC-17 rating. It has sex, and fighting, debauchery and fighting, political intrigue and fighting. Dumas even managed to throw in some religion (tempered by fighting.) This is a really great book. I think I shall read it again.
