An amazing Story!

I read this book for my bookclub, and I loved it! The story is beautifully written by David Oliver Relin, and tells the story of Greg Mortensen, and his efforts to build a school in rural Pakistan. He succeeds in building this school for a village where previously the children met for school outside in the elements, and scratched their lessons into the dirt with sticks, and only had a teacher every other day. There are lots of setbacks he encounters, but the second half of the book details his further experience dedicating his life to helping lots of children like these, who had very little opportunity for education. He puts emphasis on educating girls and women, in places where in the past they had even less opportunity for education than that described above. In reading the story you learn about the recent history and situations in Pakistan and Afghanistan, as told through the eyes of these Americans. I cried in both sorrow and joy while reading this book. I would recommend this book for everyone, in fact I got two copies of it to give away at Christmas, and have loaned mine to another person who loved it as well!
