Pros: Good incorporation of the Indian culture
Cons: Some of the music sequences got kind of corny
The Bottom Line: This movie is fun and gives good insight into the Indian culture
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This movie is based on a classic, Jane Austen's book Pride and Prejudice. But this movie has a special twist to it - an Indian twist that adds a bit of extra color, spice, extravagance, and drama.
The movie's actors are a mixture of... |

Pros: Fun filled film to sit through and enjoy without having any expectations or comparisons.
Cons: Features every cliche that could be imagined. Very predictable. Hey, this wasn't a "heady" film.
The Bottom Line: It's good to just get away from the real world once in a while and let a film maker take you somewhere else where you can smile and share dreams.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I believe that sometimes it's better to be ignorant of certain things before seeing a film. The truth is I have never read a Jane Austin book and I have never sat through a three hour Bollywood movie loaded with dance.(This film runs about an hour...

Pros: Original interpretation of Jane Austin and attempt to blend Indian and Western culture.
Cons: Some of the musical numbers are weak, Bollywood conventions may alienate Western audiences
The Bottom Line: Gurinder will forever be measured up to "Bend It Like Beckham," which she may never top in popularity or cohesiveness, but "Bride and Prejudice" has much to recommend it.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Much to the utter confusion of my parents, I have been in love with Bollywood and bhangra for years. Bollywood is India's massive film industry based in Bombay (now Mumbai), which produces more films annually than Hollywood. Bollywood films are...

Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: Lacklustre direction and poor pacing.
The Bottom Line: Better wait for the original adoption of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice rather than wasting your money on this.

Review: I really love this movie, I rented it from the library once and liked it even though it was cheesy and corny, there was something about it that I liked. It was predictable and some parts were laughable but at the same time I like it.

Pros: joyous bhangra beat, colourful spectacles of mass spontaneous dancing, stunning Aishwarya Rai, hilarious supporting characters
Cons: the travesty of casting Henderson as Darcy
The Bottom Line: Watch it for a taste (albeit far from authentic) of Bollywood magic. It's a joyous romp that's uplifting and will have you tapping your toes to the bhangra beat.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Not to worry Jane Austen s not spinning in her grave. If anything, she of all people would be amused. After all, much of her writing revolved around the comedy of manners, and while her style was precise, reserved, and polished, I m sure her sense...

Pros: Aishwarya Ray. Sumtuous costumes. HIGH energy!
Cons: Minor problems with Martin Henderson's performance.
The Bottom Line: A fun and energetic "spin" on classic Jane Austen.

Review: What's not to like?
I've never read any Jane Austen, and only know her work from the film adaptations. SENSE & SENSIBILITY, EMMA, etc. So I cannot comment if "BRIDE" AND PREJUDICE does a good job of translating Austen to Bollywood. I suspect... |

Pros: Cool blend of Indian and Western well, everything.
Cons: The first couple musical numbers could've done with another dramatic scene to break them up.
The Bottom Line: If you like Indian movies, musicals, Pride and Prejudice, love stories, Bend It Like Beckham, or just want to see Naveen Andrews dance, then give it a chance.
This reviewer recommends this product.
