I bought this seat when my youngest child was born for his older sister. He needed her convertible seat and that meant it was time for a new seat. I was not comfortable with her going into a traditional booster and using the seatbelt in the car. She is a wiggle worm and would not stay in position and could seriously endanger her life. SO I set out to find a Higher weight and height harness seat for her. I found the Britax Regent and it met all my needs. It was comfortable, it was safe, and it would easily harness her to 8 years or beyond. I knew I had to have it.
My Daughter was very excited to get a new seat as this would be her first pink seat. The day we got it I sat and read the car seat manual and the car manual to see what all I needed to know. I read both of them twice cover to cover to make sure I had missed nothing. I knew I had to use the long belt path for her as she was under 40 lbs, so that is what I did. I had a little trouble with the belt being long enough to reach. I found a forum with lots of wonderful people who were very helpful and told me to recline my vehicle seat so that I could make the belt long enough and then to put the seat back up once I had it buckled. I put up the seat back again and it was perfectly buckled in nice and tight.
My daughter loves this seat. She fell asleep in it the very first ride. My daughter realizes the safety this seat gives her and tells all her friends who make fun of her that she will survive a car accident and they won't.
I don't like the width of the seat as it makes my bench in my van able to only seat 2 when it is outboard and when I have her in the middle I can only get her on the seat.
Overall I am in love with this seat and have every intention of buying 2 more of them as my other two children out grow their current seats. I bought this when my daughter was 4 and it will last her until she is is too big or 10 years old when it expires. At that time I will feel she is ready for a booster.
