Author's Review
My husband and I chose the Britax Roundabout after a few tries of other carseat brands after our daughter, Riley, was born. We had heard about the Roundabout frequently, although we hadn't seen it in stores. The price--around $200--scared us off for months while we bought an infant carrier/car seat and then a larger baby seat. While these seats were more economical, they came nowhere near the Roundabout in overall safety, quality and ease of use.
My other seats were difficult to install in our car (a minivan)...a problem that many minivan owners face. Once I installed it according to the directions, the seat would wobble and I'd have to re-install. The Britax includes a tether strap and locking clips for both forward- and rear-facing positions, which makes it easy to get a strong, secure fit in most vehicles.
Once we bought the Roundabout, we knew we had made a sound investment. The 5-point harness makes a snug fit for Riley without being overly restrictive. The belts are easy to adjust. The seat fits well in the van (and in our other sedan) in both positions. The seat reclines for napping little ones. And my favorite, often-overlooked feature--the belt lock is metal, but under the lock is a padded-cloth area, so the metal belt doesn't burn baby's sensitive skin on hot days. I've never had a problem with the Roundabout, and I expect to be able to use it for years to come (since it's good for children up to 40 lbs.). Yes, it's pricey....but it's worth it! Your child's safety is worth it!
