Product Review

Not a good buy for someone needing a robust printer

by   goodguy54 ,   Jul 11, 2007

Pros:  Its an all-in-one that is effective for routine printing.

Cons:  As a printer, it can only do the most basic jobs.

The Bottom Line:  One would expect a printer to print on commonly available paper stock. You shouldn't have to discover the night before the big meeting that you bought the wrong machine.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

We all like the fact that one machine can do almost everything. However, I found that as a printer this machine is really limited. It is okay for standard printing but if you need to print trifolds or use thicker paper stock occasionally, you are just plain out of luck.

First the way this machine is designed, it is not possible to conveniently feed an individual sheet. To feed an individual sheet, you need to pull out the paper cassette and load each page individually. Except for one thing... the individual sheet will not feed.

Let's be honest, we are really asking too much for a machine that costs between $200 and $250 to do everything. We should realize that to make such a machine that cheap, some compromises must be made.

Mr. Yasui you should be honest and tell people in advance that this machine will not do everything. "Don't try to print brochures or photos on this printer." Just so you know, this type of warning is common in other industries.

If you know in advance that you will not be doing anything too exotic then this could possibly be the right machine for a budget conscious homeowner.
