Author's Review
I received this DVD as a gift and so I had not really seen much of Buffy before. I had seen the first season and part of the second, but nothing else. So when I started watching season 6 I thought I would be confused but luckily I caught on fast to the events and I wasn't really confused at all!
This season has a few themes that it focuses on. The first is Buffy being brought back from the grave and the effects it has on her. Willow used her magic to bring Buffy back to life, and Buffy in actuality never really wanted to return. She deals with this issue and wondering if she actually is normal and copes with this by getting a job and having a sexual relationship with Spike (C'mon Buffy...you can do so much better!)
The second theme is Willow and Tara's relationship and how it is strong and how Willow's addiction to magic forces it to end. Sadly when the relationship heats up again Tara is killed by Warren.
The third major theme is Willow's addiction to magic and how it grows and grows until it goes totally out of control. She finally gets over the addiction when Tara is killed and she goes crazy and her powers make her the biggest Buffy "bad guy" ever.
The fourth theme is Xander and Anya's relationship, engagement, wedding, and Xander abandoning her the day of the wedding causing Anya to have a hurtful fling with Spike.
The fifth major theme is the three nerds Andrew, Warren, and Jonathan messing with magic and technology to confuse and annoy Buffy and her friends. Warren eventually gets out of hand and becomes a nasty murderer.
My favorite characters are Anya, Tara, and Andrew. Anya is ditzy, funny, and is always entertaining to watch. She speaks her mind, and is basically the only person to do so. Tara is kind, sweet, and a surprisingly good singer! Andrew is just plain funny! He is really entertaining and even though he was a "bad guy" I liked him
My least favorite characters are Willow and Spike. They are both annoying, terrible actors, and their' storylines are kind of stupid. I have never liked Willow, I think her parts are always awkward and out of place. I only liked creepy evil Willow with the black hair. She should be evil more often..it stops her annoying whining!
The season starts out exciting, starts to get slightly borring, then heats up again at the end. So overall it keeps attention and is exciting.
I have three favorite episodes on this season: Episodes 7, 11, and 14.
Episode 7 is "Once More With, With Feeling". It is a musical and is funny and some cast members can actually sing well. It is about a demon who causes everyone to act as if they are all in a Broadway musical. Tara is the best singer, but Anya's bunny song is funny.
In episode 11 "Gone", Buffy is hit my a ray gun, causing her to become invisible. She is so funny...I like the tricks she plays on everyone, especially the social worker. Her sex scene with Spike is also funny.
Episode 13 is "Older and Faraway". It is Buffy's birthday and everyone is trapped in her house due to a demon's spell. It is entertaining and funny and I like alot of the minor characters in this one.
This season has alot more drama and "reality" issues than fighting and vampires, which I like. This season is sort of a soap opera meets a horror movie and I like some of the themes. I prefer the drama aspect because alot of the monsters and fighting styles are like "Power Rangers".
So if you are a fan of Buffy or if you have never seen it before, anyone could find an entertaining story line on this DVD.
