If you have the 17-55 you really don't need this one....

Date of Review:  Jul 1, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you've already got the 17-55 you really don't need this, spend your money on some primes or a higher focal length zoom that starts around 50mm.
Review: I bought this lens because I wanted slightly more high end zoom than what is offered on the 17-55 USM EF/S that came with my Rebel. Most film shooters use a 50mm lens for their all around near object lens but sometimes this is too much magnification...

What's the world come to?

Date of Review:  Jun 14, 2001
The Bottom Line: A nice general purpose 'prime' lens for today's lighter weight autofocus cameras
Review: Now, why did I title this review as I did? Well, as I recently discovered when I sold my older Canon gear and went looking for the "latest and greatest", things ain't what they used to be. Why, when I was a kid, or, back in my day- you see what I...

good travel lens

Date of Review:  Feb 17, 2003
The Bottom Line: gives good detail when properly supported.
Review: I purchased this lens mainly because i needed a 300mm lens for wildlife shots. I already had the 28-135mm IS lens, and liked the stabilizing feature, but the price of the 75-300mm IS lens was almost $500.00, which i did not want to spend at the...

Don't even touch this lens!

Date of Review:  Apr 22, 2004
Review: In June 2003, I got my first SLR camera-a Canon EOS Elan 7E. With it came a Canon 28-90mm f/4-5.6 USM II lens. Due to its USM motor, I thought it would be the Holy Grail of kit lenses.

Of the hundreds of...
