Too derivative

I am Catholic, so you might say I was predisposed to liking this magazine. However, I no longer subscribe to this magazine because I do, indeed, find it too derivative.

In style, it is very reminiscent of the secular Reader's Digest. Every month, a series of articles are published. Some are original, and some are culled from other sources, primarily Catholic or generic Christian ones. If the article ends halfway through a page, there are jokes or one-liners at the bottom of the page to fill up space, just as the secular Reader's Digest does when space needs to be filled.

Because Catholic Digest is so similar to Reader's Digest, I cannot recommend it as being different or unique enough to warrant a subscription or newsstand purchase. Get it from a friend who wants to unload used copies if you're desperate to read it.
