This is the second car i've owned. my first, a 1992 Cavalier RS was struck and totalled. I was devastated, I never thought i would find a better car. I was stuck driving my grandmother's 87 buick skylark for a little while, it had practically no power and was rather unstable. My luck changed when mom wanted me to check out a used car. I was quite skeptical at first, but after seeing it, i totally fell in love with it. It had an immaculate dark blue, crushed velvet interior that was perfect in back and front, mahogany panels on the console, a car you'd just love to fall asleep in. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the seats could be pushed back to the point where i had more legroom than i knew what to do with, the seats did'nt recline. Thats my biggest con of this car. Also, i need to complain about chevrolet glue, for crying out loud, the little silver disks on the radio controls both fell off, one i glued back on the other dissapeared, the passenger side dash board is peeling up (Ive noticed that on EVERY celebrity ive seen) And the cloth on the cars cieling in caving in. Ive squirted plenty of glue in a failed attempt to keep it up, but to no avail.
Well, despite these little problems, the celebrity is an awesome vehicle, the feature i admire the most are the well running power windows, make it so easy to provide good "A/C" in the summer without running the actual a/c and sucking the engine. Speaking of the engine, the 2.8L V6 is very powerfull, everyone in my family says it takes off like a jet. My cousin has a v8 powered dodge intrepid, and i beat her with ease in the quarter mile. I even did a checkup on the power in the engine, its rated at an astounding 180 HP at 5200 rpm, thats almost as much as a modern day impala. Some recomendations on this car would be, if you take a road trip, tell another member of your group to drive his/her car and take some buds with them, meanwhile, load your celebrity up with gear and pick one lucky passenger to be your navigator in a most comfortable front seat. this car is also fun to eat in, plenty of legroom means plenty of lap-room to put a few take-out dishes and fried food. I'll admit, i'm finiky "don't drop a single crumb on the seat or everyone dies!!!!" but i clean this car weekly. The ashtrays have never been used and still retain their beautifull chromed finish. This car does not have a beverage holder, but improvising as i do, i found that putting my sunglasses case in the cassete holder (on the center console in front of the gear shifter) will make a perfect drink holder for one person, the passenger will have to put his drink between his legs. My car is a 75th anniversary edition chevrolet, so it came with all these gold emblems on the cloth top, the side of the engine compartment, the trunk, and also a nice (but badly tarnished) 75th anniversary hood ornament that i removed and am soon replacing with a gold Caprice hood ornament. The best piece of cosmetic gear, which is on most chevrolet classic autos, would be the mahogany center-piece of the steering wheel with a silver chevrolet emblem in the middle.
So in closing, pound for pound, even though celebrity owners are dogged buy their freinds, This car can easily wipe-out anything in its price range, carve up Mopar K-CARs (dodge aries, plymouth acclaim, reliant, etc.) in a speed or acceleration contest, overpower 80's pontiac sunbirds and sunfires, and treat you and a lucky passenger in a road trip where your other freinds, stuck in their "better looking", yet compact subaru legacies and ford escorts, while you lead the way in a SPACIOUS, POWERFUL- MASTER OF THE ROAD.
