Author's Review
I own a Chevy S10 pick up. It is red with an extended cab. It has the sporty hubcaps, and a fancy smancy bed cover. And the crucial aspect of this little red pick up, it is a step side. I just find step sides so much more appealing than regular trucks.
It gets great gas mileage. Better in the city than I thought it would--- 19-21 miles per gallon. In stop and go traffic. On the highway it gets 26-28 miles per gallon. No, its not the best gas saving economy truck there is, but it works great and runs smooth.
It is perfect for hauling furniture around as well as can be a great asset to living on a farm and getting from pasture to pasture. I would not recommend it though for towing heavy duty tractors. Lawn mowers, yes, but not any type of heavy farm equipment.
There is lumbar support offered for the driver in the drivers seat, but alas, none for the passenger or the third seat. The back seat area is actually not as crowded as I thought it might beunless you are a 6 manthen my suggestion is to not even try--- its what I told my father anyhow. If you have two young children, its perfect.
The third door is great, as getting to the back storage area is performed with ease. Open your front door and pop the latch to open the third door. There is more room than appears in this back area. I have stored eight medium sized cat pet carriers with ease and three in the front seat. The spare tire is easy to get to, as is the jack.
There are two downfalls to owning this particular truck.
One- there is only one cup holder in front and none in back. Big downside if your truck has more than just the driver.
The second and its the biggest- the plastic latch with opens the third door is a piece of crap. I have replaced it four times and I am not a huge bicep type person. Nothing except normal use has been the culprit for the plastic apparatus demise.
I hate this one gadget on my truck, otherwise I love little red Stella. She gets me to where I am going safely and securely. She can dart in and out of traffic with ease or be content with being stuck in traffic for an hour. She rides smooth and is easy to maintain.
But the darn piece of plasticId want to keep this truck running for another ten years.
