Product Review

It's a Venture

by   wd5hyq ,   Dec 26, 2007

Pros:  Great Car for families, and the convenience of sliding doors on both sides is Great

Cons:  Problems with Heat and the headlights don't work very well.

The Bottom Line:  Good vehicle, but check out the Venture Forum on the web and look for the problems that I have point out before buying

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I have driven this minivan for 50,000 miles over the last 3 years. It was a lease vehicle with 30,000 miles on it. IT has been somewhat problematic for me, but not very expensive to operate. I have had problems with headlights that have leaked water in them and that have burned out several bulbs explosively that left a smoky residue inside the lens. The drivers seat now has some of the steel framework coming through the padding and fabric where you slide in and out of the vehicle. And I consider myself to be VERY easy on cars and not abusive. The biggest problem that has haunted this vehicle is the heat available during the winter. I have both front and rear A/C-Heating units. During the winter, I am used to having a van that has full heat available after about 2-3 miles of driving. On this one, you don't feel like slowing the heater blowers down from the max setting for at least 10 miles. I took it back to the dealer under warranty and they advised that everything was working correctly. I also replaced the thermostat with a high temp one, and that was a wasted trip to the mechanics shop as well, since there was no improvement. I even went so far as to buy some black foam pipe insulation and wrap the BARE hot water lines under the vehicle that go to the back heater unit. This probably helped, but not noticeably. I agree with all the other comments that were left by others on this vehicle, and if the heat was acceptable, I wouldn't be looking for a new vehicle this year.
