Product Review

"Van-tastic" Chevrolet Uplander

by   jetfixer ,   Feb 24, 2006

Pros:  Great fuel economy. Great daily driver and even better for the long haul trips.

Cons:  Typecast as a "mini-van".

The Bottom Line:  Buy one for the wife & family. All will be impressed with the many options that are considered as "Standard equipment" on the Uplander.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I like many feared the whole "mini-van" type casting that comes with ownership. It has been an easy transition with this vehicle from the fuel unfriendly SUV's.

We jumped into a 2005 Chevy Uplander for a test drive at our local dealership and never took it back. I was critical at first noting all the exterior similarities of previous mini-van models within the GM family. Those similarities died once you were inside. I was take back by all the standard features offered in the Uplander LT. It was hard to find anything left out that one could desire in a van, sedan, truck or SUV that was not included in the LT package.

Our Uplander has been a great all around family vehicle. The fuel economy has been great for our long halls for vacation. But the daily to and from trips are where you should really see the fuel economy for those who are transitioning from the SUV's. The range of the Uplander is incredible to say the least. You don't plan your trip and stops based off of need for fuel fill ups. You have a cruising range on a full tank of gas of 625 plus miles. That makes for some extensive "seat time". The seating is very comfortable I might add, even for those lengthy periods between fill-ups.

Overall, the Uplander has alot of "Bang for the buck" with all the creature comfort features. The fuel economy is tremendous for the overall size/spaciousness. Makes for a great daily driver and terrific for the longer road trips.
