My A.D.V.I.C.E., don't buy N.I.C.E.

I purchased mine in August '05 and have only used it for Navigation so I can't comment on the other features. I live in the DC/Northern VA area where there has been a lot of construction especially that involving changes to major highways. This is where you cannot rely on the NICE unit. There have never been any updates despite the web site's statement that "updates will be available in Summer 2006." It's now nearly summer 2007 and still nothing. I'm not holding my breath.

I look at the units available for around $300 that have up-to-date maps and wish I would have waited. I have to agree with other posters about the poor customer service from Clarion. I tried to find out how to buy another power cord, but only got a sarcastic response that was totally useless. Cigarette lighter power cords come in a seemingly infinite variety of sizes, voltages and amperage ratings if they don't sell them, they should be able to give the proper specs so I could go and find one. They told me just go to radio shack. I asked if they had a part number and they told me, "It's CG-101." Right. That's about the extent of how helpful they are.

The fact that they won't update the map software after charging over $1,000 for the unit is really unacceptable.
