Lifelines - Cobra MicroTalk FRS-220

Date of Review:  May 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you take care of someone who needs help, these radios make a great lifeline. If you're in the yard, or doing noisy chores, these radios get your attention.
Review: Recently, I was at my parents' home. My Mom commis-
erated. She was glad we were there to be inside with Dad
while she got some needed yard work done. After his
stroke, she hesitates to go out in their yard with noisy
equipment...

Excelent Value for an FRS radio. Great Range, Water resistant

Date of Review:  Mar 19, 2002
The Bottom Line: Excellent for the price, Great for anyone on a budget. Definately has more features than any other radios in that price range.
Review: I purchased this pair of radios from Costco for $128CDN ($80US), so it was a steal. It wasn't so much that $80US for 2 radios was a steal, but the fact that it came with 2 sets of NiMH rechargable batteries and a desktop charger for 2 radios. Those...

Good radio, so-so shape.

Date of Review:  Sep 20, 2001
The Bottom Line: Good quality radio, poor case design which makes it hard to hold.
Review: Cobra generally makes very good electronics; I have one of their CB radios bought in 1976 which still works fine. This radio has good innards but leaves something to be desired in shape. Whether this is a problem for you, you'll have to decide.

I Have Been attacked By A Cobra

Date of Review:  Mar 24, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you don't have a radio yet go out and purchase this one. It is cheap, and has a large amount of features. Trust me this is one good deal.
Review: I have just recently purchased a cobra radio, for a steal of a deal price. Let me tell you this radio is truly great. There is volume control, so people can adjust what volume they want to send and receive messages in. It has security controls, so...

Bitten by this Buy

Date of Review:  May 11, 2002
The Bottom Line: two tin cans and a string work just as well.
Review: My best friend and I purchased this radio as a replacement for ones we had based on the price and the great write-up on the package. From day one, mine continued to pick up every background noise around. This has never been resolved. At four months...

Another great Cobra radio :-)

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2002
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anybody who wants a nice sleek looking radio but doesn't want to pay an outrageous price for it.
Review: Intro...

I bought these radios in the spring of 2001 planning to use them on my trip to Dorney Park over the spring break. They worked wonderfully with only a few flaws.

great idea, bad model

Date of Review:  Jun 13, 2001
The Bottom Line: Family radios are a great idea, but this is not the best model. Although the range and options are fine, the design is seriously flawed.
Review: The Cobra 220 family radios were the right price at $70 for a pair of them. We have used these radios for six months, while driving in separate cars, at the airport, skiing and at the mall.

PLENTY OF CHANNELS
With 14 channels and 38...

If my wife loved it , it must be good!!

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2001
The Bottom Line: Overall loved the units and especially the recharger. Hated the holder. Would buy it again and pop buy WalMart or equivalent for an after marker holder.
Review: Bought the pair at Costco in Canada prior to a Disney Cruise and a visit to Magic Kingdom. Came with NiCd battery and charger.
Very easy to use. My wife the technophobe mastered it in less than one hour and now wondered how we ever lived...

Cobra Microtalk FRS

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2008
Review: These radios are great when they work. But do not expect to get anywhere near the range advertised. The radios come with a Li-on battery and this is the problem. If the battery fails the radio is a throw away. There are no replacements available.

Great set of radios for the price

Date of Review:  Apr 3, 2002
The Bottom Line: Feature packed, great performance, and reasonable price. Definetly worth your attention.
Review: Me and my girlfriend purchased these radios in January of 2002. The main purpose of buying these radios was for use on our motorcycles. We found a company that makes headsets to use in motorcycle helmets that support this radio and several others...
