I don't think I have the CV-E40 exactly... I don't have the wires sticking out the sides on my pair... I got them free with a CV 321 combo pack. My words are simple: Good bass, decent treble, and they go fairly loud. I think I had good luck because after a few experiences I have learned Coby is a horrible brand. These are an exception - I disagree with the other reviewer.
