Great for the price.
Pros:
Headphones act as a range grounder, doesn't take expensive button cells like most headphone radios
Cons:
Battery cover always falls off without take.
The Bottom Line:
I think that these would work just fine in a bigger city, and we might try ine on our next trip to Des Moines.

We also get these little radios at a closeout store for $5.99
Of course, the weather band and TV band do come in better with headphones.
We haven't benn able to take it to des moines with us yet, because can't figure out a way to keep the ;ittle battery cover on. I've had 2 of them, and we either wound up putting tape on the back, or cardboard over the batteries, and i'd rather use a headphone radio with the back on it, Wouldn't you?
Des moines IA also has a local Weather band tower, so me might not have to ground the range of it with headphones in Des Moines.
I don't know why Coby never tells people that the built in speaker is optional, and the headphones are the main sound source.
Since big lots has a lot of them, they must be for travel.
We did take a another, just a little bit taller in size, radio to Des Moines, and it came in perfectly, Everywhere! expect next to the microwave! Even outdoors! whcih I think means that it would work prefectly in Des Moines.
My Aunt also had an Emerson with additional police and aircraft bands, and th weather band on it was tuned in the same way as this coby, so why wouldn't the coby come in good in Des moines?
