Coupling - The British Version of 'Friends' Only Funny!
Pros:
Truly funny, better than Friends, more raw, uncensored conversation
Cons:
Sadly ends after 4 seasons when an important character leaves the show....
The Bottom Line:
You gotta see it, even just to compare it to Friends. If you're into relationship humor, you're bound to enjoy Coupling!

Author's Review
Ok, so my review title may seem harsh, but I honestly never really found Friends to be all that funny. So much of the humor was obvious and really kind of forced. And does anyone really believe those people could afford such a nice apartment and designer clothes with average jobs? Heck no, heck no. Especially not someone who works in a coffeehouse, give me a break!
Enter Coupling, the brit show that ran for four short seasons. It was an awesome show....so funny and even translates well to an American, if I do say so myself. The main characters are all a bit neurotic, but witty and lovable nonetheless.
There's Jeff, the biggest screwball of the bunch. He cannot seem to get a sentence out properly when talking to women. He screws it all up, and badly. One of my favorite episodes has Jeff finally speaking to his dream girl from the bus. Sadly, he sticks his foot in his mouth, again... and ends up accidentally telling her he had to have his leg amputated and has a prosthetic limb. He tries hard, but he sabotages himself left and right!
And Jane is the crackpot female in the bunch. Self-obsessed, says anything to get attention, even says she's bisexual to get a rise out of men.
The couple in the bunch starts out being Steve and Susan, but later in the series, others get together as well. But they all struggle with issues that all 20 and 30-somethings deal with....dating, sex, friendship, you name it.
It's refreshingly raw as well...not having the same censorship rules as America allows them to use more natural language when describing sex acts. It's not dirty, just more real...how people really talk.
In the final season, the show goes downhill, since Jeff is no longer there and is replaced by a new but similar character, Oliver. It just doesn't work as well and after 6 episodes, the series ends for good.
I believe if Jeff hadn't left the show, it would've been around as long as Friends, if not longer. Brilliant show, truly funny. If you have a Netflix account, you can actually view the show on your computer, like I did. Awesome!
