My stereo had died, and I was tired of listening to music through headphones. I didn't have the money to invest in a quality system right now, so I figured I'd just get something cheap to get me by until I could get something better.
I have all my music on my iPod, so I figured some powered computer speakers would be a good compromise. I found these and picked them up for a little more than I wanted to pay. My expectations weren't that high as I drove home with them.
Taking them out of the box, I was struck by how nice the speakers looked. They were well designed and just looked "clean." The two satellite speakers tend to be a little wobbly. It seems like they're a tad bit off balanced. Not a big deal though.
I plugged the iPod into them and powered them up
BOOM!
Wow, I had to fumble to volume down really fast to avoid angering my neighbors. I hadn't expected that. And that's about the best thing I can say. These things are fabulous. And once I increased the volume on my iPod AND the speaker volume, I really was able to shake the windows in my house with clean, crisp bass.
Of course, there is a bit lacking in the midrange--but it's not really noticeable at all. For the price, I simply didn't deserve speakers this good. I really can't stress enough how powerful these speakers are. I was "Shocked and Awed" at the surprising power!
I usually either use them with an iPod or my laptop, and either way, it's more than enough to fill a mid-sized room with deep bass and crisp highs.
