Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee Maker

I have been using the Cuisinart DCC-2000 twelve cup coffee maker for about six months now. It brews great coffee every time and there’s no glass carafe to bother with. All you have to do is place your coffee mug on the circle on the easily removable and cleanable drip tray and press the dispensing lever. Voila! A great cup of coffee and no glass carafe to clean or break.

The DCC2000 features easy to use controls which include a clock and timer as well as a coffee gauge. It also beeps when brewing is complete. There’s nothing like waking up to a freshly brewed pot of coffee! The removable filter basket uses basket style #4 or #2 filters (the book recommends #4) with no problem. Either size will work. The coffee brewing time is reasonable allowing the water enough time to extract flavor from the coffee grounds instead of just pouring through them. The result is rich, full flavored coffee every single time. When freshly brewed, the coffee is hot but will not scald and it stays hot without burning until the unit turns off. The double insulated, built-in reservoir/carafe keeps coffee hot for an additional two to four hours after the power turns off.

The DCC-2000 also has a power loss backup feature which allows it to retain programming settings in case of a short power outage or the circuit breaker trips. This particular feature is very handy here in Florida where brief power outages are a way of life in the hot summer months.

The interior features a large, removable reservoir. The reservoir has a built-in spout which allows it to be used as a pitcher to refill the coffee maker. It seemed a bit awkward at first as I am quite small but once I got used to it, I have had no problem at all filling the coffee maker nor has condensation been a problem.

For those who are concerned with kitchen decor, the knobs and general style of the DCC-2000 match those of the Cuisinart CPT-160 toaster so they look great together on the counter.

I have owned a lot of coffee makers throughout my life but this one is the best I have ever used. The Cuisinart DCC-2000 is an engineering and design marvel and its performance matches its great looks and style. This coffeemaker is warranted for three years instead of 90 days or one year which is typical. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for!
