EXCELLENT COFFEE MAKER

What is it about coffee makers that gets people so upset? I don't think I've seen any coffee maker that gets universal praise and they all seem to have major detractors. I must first admit that mine is new, so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet, but so far I am very pleased.

First of all, I like the carafe-less design. One less thing to break and one less thing to clean.

Secondly, I like the design. It's attractive in a simple way. No wild curves or colors and the plastic doesn't look cheap. It looks great on the countertop.

Third, it is easy to use. Not that most coffee makers AREN'T easy to use, but I thought I would point this out.

Fourth, I really chose this for one feature only...it has an adjustment for the "Auto Shut-Off". Most coffee makers have the Auto Shut Off feature and it's a good idea. However, most of them are pre-set at the factory to shut off after 2 hours. I need about 3 - 4 hours to cover my morning coffee drinking, so in the past I was putting lukewarm coffee into the microwave which meant pouring it into a microwave safe cup, reheating it, then pouring it into the metallic travel cup I drink from. With this coffee maker, I adjusted the Auto Shut Off to 4 hours so I can get hot coffee with the press of a button. And, even though I've read reviews that claimed this unit doesn't keep the coffee hot for that long, mine does.

The only complaint I have is that in order to fit my travel cup underneath, I have to remove the (easily removable) grate. This is really a VERY minor thing as removing the grate is simply a matter of pulling it right out - no big deal at all, just one tiny extra step.

I am a little worried about the other review I read here that said they found mold when cleaning out the unit. I am one of those people that freak out over mold, so I will be on the lookout for it. I'm afraid that if there is such a risk, I would be most likely to have it happen to me because I put the maximum amount of coffee into the filter which has more of a risk of overflow.
