Author's Review
I got this Cuisinart Mini Prep Food Processor as a baby shower gift. I use it just about once a week when I prepare baby food for my 6 month old son. My routine is usually to steam all the veggies/fruit first, puree them using my handy mini food processor, then store them in ice cube trays. This makes my life a whole lot easier since I can spend an hour cooking/freezing enough food for the whole week.
This mini-prep food processor has two speeds: chop and grind. I think the design lies in the blade, where one direction chops and the other direction grinds. This helps me when I'm pureeing chunky things like apples or pears, I usually just press the chop and grind buttons alternately so that the food evenly purees.
I've chopped just about any baby food you can think of with this gadget: apples, pears, green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, strawberries... you name it. As my baby grows older I will continue to use it for meats and other grown up food.
Cleanup is very easy, the container, cover and blades are all dishwasher safe, although I only hand wash, which is also easy. I was a bit concerned that he white middle plastic that holds the blade would be discolored from the food stains since I make a lot of colorful baby food (squash, carrots, etc.). So far it has washed off completely and the plastic does not absorb any of the colors.
Overall, the best thing about this mini-prep is that it helps me make healthy baby food, which in my opinion is priceless! I've never had to buy any pre-made baby food, so I'm very satisfied with this product! It's small enough to stash in the pantry when not in use, but big enough to get the job done.
