Worst cordless I've ever owned
Date of Review: Oct 16, 2008
The Bottom Line: This is a horrible product & barely functions as a phone should. The answering machine is even difficult to hear messages. Don't buy it.
We bought this phone a year and a half ago & have been plaqued with static, poor reception, poor sound quality and short charge life. Our wireless router has interferred with reception & we've moved the cradle as far away from the router as possible, but that hasn't helped. The sound has always been just plain awful, you can't hear the person on the other end of the phone unless they are talking loudly or shouting. My cell phone reception in a wind storm is better! The ergonomics of the design are not very good either and if you think you can balance it between your shoulder & your ear while doing anything else - FORGET ABOUT IT! After one of the handsets finally stopped charging at all, we replaced the battery. After a full nights charge the screen on the handset read "Out of Range". Thinking I had the wrong battery I took it to Radio Shack & the guy there told me that the handset had gone bad. He also said GE phones are the poorest quality on the market & recommended a Panasonic or Uniden as top of the line cordless phones. He personally owns a Panasonic that he'd owned for more than 5 years & said in addition to being functional it was durable with toddlers as well. Since I was actually happy the phone was dead, I purchased a Panasonic KX-TG6323 at Sam's Club tonight for a $70, which was $29 less than I paid for my GE phone (& the Panasonic comes with a 3rd handset.) I didn't do my homework when I made the last purchase. My old Cobra cordless lasted for over 10 years & was a great phone. I was so disappointed in this product that I will never buy another GE product, big or small.
