Klaatu Barada Nikto!

These words are legend in the annals of science fiction film. The classic 1951 film, the Day The Earth Stood Still that they come from remains as relevant today as the time it was released. An alien lands on Earth in a saucer shaped spaceship accompanied by a large robot. The robot (who is called Gort) is frightening in it's simplicity. Sleek and devoid of any visible weakness, it's appearance belies it's true power. The alien Klaatu, is set upon by the military as soon as he arrives. Injured by an overzealous soldier, he is taken to a local military hospital where he is questioned. As soon as he is recovered, he escapes and decides to find out more about these creatures that call themselves human, by living amongst them for a while. He comes to stay at a boarding house where a woman and her young son are also staying. He befriends the boy and the boy teaches him something about humanity. The woman is brought into his confidence as they attempt to escape the military that is closing in on him. Eventually he is able to deliver the message he was sent to Earth to deliver: Now that mankind has reached the stars, they must stop their warlike ways or face destruction at the hands of the robots who police the galaxy. It's been nearly fifty years and mankind still wages war over the most trivial of things. Will the human race ever learn?
