Just to give you a little background, I'm not a professional photographer, or even a "photo enthusiast," matter of fact, if you start talking about what settings you used to get some effect on some picture, my eyes will glaze over, and I could very possibly start drooling.

With that said, I upgraded my Canon EOS 35mm camera to the Digi-Rebel XT, because I go a lot of cool places and see a lot of cool things (and lets face it, film is outdated and too expensive to process en mass). One of the nice things I found with my Rebel is that the lenses I had from my film camera adapted perfectly to my digital camera.

Like I said, with my lack of experience in photography, I wanted to get a camera with a green box on the setting dial. By and large, the automatic settings on this camera work very well and the picture quality is excellent. But as I have become more adaptive and started exploring the functions of the camera, the pictures started getting better, and taking them became a lot more fun.

When I travel for my job, my equipment gets abused. I haven't been able to keep a cell phone more than 6 months without replacing it with the phone insurance. This camera has taken a lot of blows, been in extreme heat and cold, and everything from dust to snow to high humidity. Even in the most austere conditions, this thing refuses to give up.

This camera is durable, adaptive, and is a great camera to cut your teeth on.
