Not ready for prime time

Designing, testing and delivering a quality consumer product is not a trivial task and Directv has proven so very well. This unit has decent features and video/audio quality, but the software is very buggy - plus the user interface and overall operation leaves plenty to be desired. The unit regulary freezes and becomes very sluggish, not responding to remote actions. Several times a week one of the dual tuners quits working which requires a receiver reset -- this by the way takes nearly 10 minutes to complete. So imagine you're about to watch/record your favorite show or big event only to have to reset the box and wait nearly 10 minutes... The user interface is pretty poor as well - no menu wrap around really bugs me, and overall just not that user friendly compared to other products.

The unfortunate reality is that if you want an HD DVR for Directv you're forced to buy this piece of crap that still needs a lot of QA testing before it's ready for Release 1.0. It's really frustrating because so many other companies make quality consumer products that Directv could offer/support. They should fire the head of QA. Ugh!
