The Bottom Line:  Please save your family the money and hassel, this van just isn't worth it.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

Wow I have been puting off this review, because I don't know where to begin. So I guess I'll try to go from the begining without leaving anything out.

We bought this van back in June of 08, because my car messed up. We had been wanting a van anyway and it was the perfect excuse to go on and get one. After a bit of research with consumer reports and soforth it came down to the caravan or sienna. Well the sienna didn't work out so we went with the caravan.

I guess I can start with the good things. A lot of the features of the caravan are pretty good. The best one being satalite tv. which is based solely on children. It only has Disney, Nick, and Toon with it our daughter has been very happy. There is a tv in the middle, in the back, and if you're in park your front screen is also a tv. Each tv can either be watching tv, watching dvd, listening to cd, radio, or sat. radio. They can all be on something different also. It comes with two headfones which have a swich for which tv you're watching and they're wireless.....Now the bad part with the sat. tv. is on the screen up front it is hardly ever correct about what your child is watching so it's very hard to monitor if there's anything you don't wish for your children to watch.

Another feature we have is our middle seats can be removed(we didn't do stow n go because we wanted the swivel n go package) and the bench seat stows. The seats are extreamly heave, but they do have wheels. The swivel package is where the 2 middle seats can face foward or backwards. If your child is in a carseat they may not ride facing backwards. When the seats are backwards there's a table you may set up for eating, games, ect. Not as cool as I thought with the table set up it's very cramed you can't hardly get in.

It also comes with navigation which seems to work fine. Only used it a couple of times. You can also download your ipod music into your front screen.

Prolly the parents fav. feature other than the tv is duel control air. The driver can set their temp as can the passenger and the rear. Works great for us we all like a different temp.

Now I'm going to jump into our problems. First we took it to the dealership where we bought it for it's first oil change. When they finished they said they were going to need up to bring it back for a few hours, because they found a small transmission leak. We live an hour and a half from there. So we brought it back and they said we needed a new transmission. It was a hassel but no big deal at this point we got a rental and a week later got our van back.(didnt' cost us anything the transmission has a lifetime warrenty, they even paid the rental)

Within the first week of having the van back we realized it still wasn't right felt like the transmission kept slipping. Called the dealer back they said to bring it in and when we did we couldn't get it to slip so they decided nothing was wrong with the transmission, but the factory bent the tailpipe wrong and that must be our problem. They said when we get out next oilchange they'd fix it. Before we got to needing the next change we ended up broke down at her gymnastics. Felt like we were dragging something and jerked us to a stop after backing us out only a foot. I had to call my sister to come get us and we went the next day to get the van and it wasn't doing it anymore so we took it in anyway.

An hour and a half later they called and said we needed another new transmission and so we got yet another rental. A week later we got it back (which was like 2 weeks ago) I wasn't even out of the parking lot and I knew something wasn't right. Everytime I let off of the gas it thumped. I have also felt the transmission still slipping. So we're on our 3rd transmission and it still isn't right. We are studying up on the Lemon Law to get our money back and get the Sienna. We've had way too much trouble in under 30,000 miles for a brand new van.

Some other smaller problems have been the automatic doors. The two sides and the back have glitched many times already and the back is quite heavy manually.

Also the handling pretty well sucks. The wind blows you all over the road and it's terrible in the rain. I hydroplained all over today and it was just a light sprinkle.

I'm sure I have left a lot out so I'll probably be updating this here and there. I'll let you know if we end up needing a forth transmission(I believe we will.) Please let me know if there's anything I should change or add to this I haven't written a review in a long time, because I've had no internet. I have it now so I can keep tabs.
