It's a great escape

Many years ago I became hooked on the whole Dragonriders of Pern series. Whenever I wish to escape from real life, Pern is where I go to hide. While the problems of Lessa are not normal for any person anywhere, the book is written so well that you realize that her problems are real and solvable.

The imagery written is so vivid that now, when I see certain rain clouds, I know that thread is on the way.

While I do not recommend the book for young children because of the suggested sexual content, I did not hesitate to give the book to my teens. My kids loved the book and series as much as I did. For them, it is an excellent lesson in feudal living, it sparks the imagination, it is a safe place to be.

I recommend this book and series wholeheartedly.
