Author's Review
We found this phone on sale at Office Max for $30 (normally $40) in July 2006. This is a GREAT phone! (and the price was fantastic!)
We used to have a VTech cordless 2.4ghz phone, and we didn't like it. It was heavy, big and hard to hear people, even when the volume was turned all the way up.
So we tried 2 phones from Office Max, a Panasonic and this Uniden. The Panasonic was silver, small, etc. and $47 (don't know model #). You could hear a bit better than the VTech, but not a lot better. So we tried the Uniden. I didn't except much from it, but was PLEASANTLY surprised to hear it was much louder than the other phones. (The ability to hear someone well was our #1 priority in choosing a phone.
And then it had all kinds of features:
- Speaker phone, both handset and base
- Caller ID
- Changeable rings
- Personal rings
- small
- lightweight
The speaker phone on the handset worked well (and came in handy when I was waiting 40 minutes with Napster!) Haven't tried it on the base yet. Haven't tested the distance on it yet, but it is 2.4ghz so expect what goes with 2.4ghz (as opposed to 5.8ghz). The fact it was 2.4ghz wasn't an issue with us, as we don't usually have it far from the base.
In the end, I think this is a great little phone for the price. I think you'll be pleased with it if you can find it.
