I love toast. I love it so much I ordered this toaster off the internet for several hundred dollars. I realize that not all people are this serious about how perfectly toasted, dry and crisp their toast is. This toaster is for the toast die-hards.

It is very retro looking, the dials are simple, the exterior steel is quite easy to clean. Wide slots are nice for thick bread and my husband uses the cage several times a week to make grilled cheese. Crumb tray is handy and cleans off easily.

So the hundred dollar question is...is it worth the money.

Well, a few things to know.

1) You really need to preheat this toaster to get even results.
2) You really need to test it out a few times to figure out the timing based on what kind of bread you are using
3) It does take up quite a bit of room for a 4 slice machine

My husband thought that it was absurd initially but after making the crispiest grilled cheese sandwiches in it he won’t let it go. I on the other hand am not sure that the 300 dollars is quite worth it.

True, it if you make a lot of toast, I mean a lot, a cheaper toaster won’t last.

So since I am very environmentally inclined to buy things that have lasting quality, it is worth the money because it won’t end up in the landfill in 4 years. So from that perspective, I’d buy it again.

Still 300 dollars is excessive. I think that I’d be willing to pay 200 for it.

Grilled cheese will never be the same once you try this. Though the cage is tedious to clean, it is worth it for such yummy grilled sandwiches. It also keeps toast warmish for a bit while you are buttering your other slices.

So if you have the patience to test drive different bread types for timing, appreciate just the right dryness and crispiness of toast and want a toaster you can make grilled cheese for your grandkids one day, this is a good toaster.
