Like anything, use your head !

I don't know about all the negative reviews for this product. Do they or did they actually own one ?

I've owned one for 12 years and I can tell you that my unit just broke down and I am looking at buying another one right away. It's a good thing I did not see all the negative reviews before I bought it back then. Sceptical like I am, I would have never bought it.

Twelve years ago, my 6 year old son suffered from God knows what. He cough every night to the point of vomitting. For 6 months the doctors and specialists couldn't come up with a diagnostic. The last specialist "thought" that he suffered from cystic fibrosis. They tested and it was not the case. He then prescribed some pumps (antibiotics & steroids). After several months, no changes. He then told us to quit smoking, remove all the carpets in the house, bag all his stuffy toys and blankets, etc., buy and central air-conditioning unit and keep moisture in the house at 45%. It would have been easier to live on the street ... in the country.

Just my luck, my sister recommended an Alpine dealer to contact me after trying to sell her a unit. In Canada it was about $1,000. A lot of money I didn't have. They let me have the unit free for a week-end. The same night I brought it home, my son quit coughing. The following Monday I brought the unit back to the dealer. I couldn't afford it. Monday night, my son started coughing again. That went on every night until I called the dealer back on Friday and asked if I could try it again on Friday (it was Thanksgiving's long week-end) and that night he stopped coughing. That Sunday we received 45 people for dinner and some of them smoked all afternoon and evening. They all commented (especially the non-smokers) how fresh and clean the house smelled. It obviously use to smell like a smoker's dump.

To make a long story short. Anyone who enters our house asked what makes our house smell so fresh. By the way, we do not use any other "plug-in's", perfums, odor eliminators, etc., just the machine.

Every day, when I walk into our home, it smells better than in my car, my office and anywhere else that I've been because you can detect the "ozone" smell. The rule of thumb is, if you can smell it for more than 5 seconds, the unit is set-up too high. Turn it down. If it's too high, it will give you a headache.

By the way, my son has not had any episode of coughing for 12 years. My children (twins - boy and girl) have not suffered from ear infections, bronchitis, breating and/or infectious lung disorders since I borrow the money to buy the the machine ... 12 years ago.

If it ahdn't worked, I would certainly not be buying another one. Fool me once ...
