Author's Review
Emerson, where have you been all my life??
There is nothing more frustrating than waking up late because of a power outage, or having to redo the time after a blown fuse. We have a clock in every room, with the exception of the living room. I wish that I had one of the Emerson Smartset Clock Radio in each room. While it is a bit bigger and bulkier than I like, the fact that it resets itself when and if something goes wrong with the power is priceless.
Our Smartset is set in our kitchen, where most of the hub-bub in our home takes place. There have been times that I set it as a back-up, in case I hit snooze too many times on my bedroom clock, or if my husband leaves for work and does not reset the room clock. It is not as obnoxious as some alarms, yet the beeps go off everytime, everyday without a hitch and wakes you up *just enough* that you are wanting to smash it!! It has a 90 minute timer if you listen to music as you drift off to sleep, it will automatically fade out.
I chose to put this in the kitchen because it matches the stainless steel appliances New York look we have. It is very modern, and until I get annoyed with it being in my way, or I find something better, it is staying! It has a large front screen that lights up really bright that shows information like the date, the time and alarm set time. It is an large LCD screen, so it is very modern and attractive. It can even project all of the information up on your ceiling, which I see no reason too! It is easy to set up, a child could do it. Well, a prodigy child anyway. But for me, I always have trouble with gadgets because I am a hands on person. But, simple is as simple does here.
Other features that it is enriched with is an AM~FM radio with the antenna built in, so there is no messing around with sound quality or static for the most part. It has dual alarms, and you have the choice, like most models, to wake up with either the alarm itself or the radio. It has 3" speakers, so there is no mistaken the sun rising!! we have had this for quite some time, and with the exception of it is getting dusty easily due to it's 8 ~ 3/8" length, 3 ~ 1/2" width and 4 ~ 1/8" height, it stands up against the chaos that ensues being moved around and cleaned all the time. Eventually, despite it's good intentions, I will replace it with something more sleeker and sophisticated, it is a little too tall for my taste.
All of the applications are easy to use, with the buttons functioning well, and literally at your fingertips. You never have to worry about being late, or it going out on you. Now, if only my husband would get his A.M. and P.M. figured out, I will never again lose track of time!!
