Emjoi's Gently Caress Gold is a great product. It is most ideal for legs and other body areas, not the face. It pulls on skin much less than wax, so I know it will keep me looking younger in the long run. It's also easier and faster than shaving or waxing.
Yes, it hurts. But trust me, you get used to it and then it's not so bad. I vastly prefer the feeling of the epilator, a temporary kind of pain that's kind of like being stuck with annoying little pins, than the feeling of razor burn or cuts which is longer-lasting. Emjoi also includes "finger massage" technology in this unit, which really does decrease the pain by distracting the nerves in your skin.
Once you try this, you'll never go back to razors or wax again.
On the technical/performance side:
It is lightweight, battery operated and portable. The double heads remove hair FAST.
I've had my unit for over two years now, and it is still going strong. I thought the battery would work for a few months, then be tossed away. Not so. It's durable and dependable over the long run.
What Emjoi doesn't tell you (but you need to know):
- Make sure your skin is really dry before using.
- Make sure your skin is warm, otherwise it will just hurt more and remove fewer hairs
- Sometimes hairs break off instead of being pulled out. That means in a few days you may need to do it again.
- Hairs grow in at a different rate, so the job won't last a month. You'll have to redo it every week to cover the different growth rates.
- The noise is odd, and everyone in the house will wonder what the heck you are doing in the bathroom, until you tell them (laughing).
- This unit isn't great for use on faces. It's too powerful and hard to control. Try the Emjoi slim unit for that purpose. See my review of the
