Product Review

AWESOME

by   chiefarrowhead ,   Sep 30, 2004

Pros:  Excellent output, good software, great features.

Cons:  Software (print driver) has a slight learning curve.

The Bottom Line:  The output from this printer speaks volumes. If you want long lasting and amazing prints, this printer is for you!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

This printer is simply AWESOME! While other reviews around the Web discuss the printer being slow while doing high DPI (best quality) the output is simply amazing and worth waiting a few seconds more for. The driver settings also allow you to change output speeds; however, the quality suffers.

My wife wanted a printer for scrapbooking and pigment based inks are a must for such a purpose. A co-worker also has an Epson printer (different model) and had already sold me on the quality of the output for photos from Epson printers. Therefore my expectations were high and the printer thus far has gone well beyond those expectations.

Something else to consider when looking at a printer for photos, is something called Print Image Matching (www.printimagematching.com). Basically, P.I.M. allows for the printer to utilize extra data that your digital camera captures, but your monitor can't make use of. Epson developed it, and only Epson printers can handle it, but a huge number of digital cameras incorporate it. Until you see the difference you won't believe how much of a impact P.I.M. makes.

To sum it all up, when I show photos that I've printed from this printer, people think that they are looking at standard photos.
