Suck it good baby-
Date of Review: Apr 19, 2004
The Bottom Line: This vacuum exceeded my expectations and picked up all the hair that had been accumulating on my floors within minutes. There are no worries about it clogging because it didn't.
I recently purchased this small canister vacuum because with 3 long haired dogs, dog hair is always everywhere. After trying a couple other upright vacuums to no avail, I decided to try a small canister one. Afterall, the upright vacuums require me to constantly check the rollers to make sure they don't get jammed with fur and consequently burn the motor out. I purchased this a couple months ago at Walmart for $55.65.
My experience has been pleasurable. The vacuum has no problem sucking up all the dog hair and other debris on the floor. We also have birds so there is often bird seed on the floor as well. The cord is also long enough to do a decent size room without having to move the vacuum or having to plug the cord back in.
The machine itself is black and extremely light-weight. There are two black buttons on the machine. The first button turns the machine on and off. The second opens the back of the vacuum so that the bags may be changed. The cord is stored underneath the vacuum and is about 20' or so.
The floor comes with several attachments. There is the crevice tool for getting into those hard to reach places. Another attachment is the one used for dusting and cleaning upholstery. The good thing about that particular attachment is that there is less chance of losing a piece because it's a two for one thing. However, on the flip side if you lose that one piece, then you are actually losing 2 pieces. The vacuum comes with two 18 inch wands which combined allow for 38 inches of manueverability. I did find it neat that the top piece had a hole in the side of it where you could actually feel the suction action. The hose is a decent size and one shouldn't trip over it. There is also a feature on the vacuum called Auto Shut off which prevents the vacuum from overheating. Typically, the cool off period is 30 minutes, though in my experience so far I have yet to have it "shut off".
The bags are decent size and even come with instructions.
1) Unplug cord before changing bags.
2) Do not reuse bags or overfill bags
3) Make sure to change bags frequently.
When replacing bags:
1) Fold bag closure flap down and push behind rubber seal.
2) Remove used bag.
3) Fold bag corners under collar.
4) Close lid
If you change the bag and the motor filters regularly, then you shouldn't have any problem with over heating.
My recommendation is that this vacuum works extremely well at picking up dog hair and debris. Unlike the floor models which easily get jammed with the dog hair, this vacuum did NOT. I have found that this particular model of cannister vacuum exceeded all my expectations.
The only problem I have with this vacuum is there is nowhere to store the hose.
