Author's Review
I can't believe this is the first review for this product! The name says it all: Easy Comfort. I have tried a couple other carriers (which I will review) and this one is the best, hands down. My daughter is now six months old, I have used it since she was about three months. You can use this carrier for children 6 to 26 pounds. Right now Brianna (my daughter) is about 15 pounds, and it is very comfortable for us both.
Why it's great:
*Support, support, support. My aching back was so thankful when I discovered this carrier. The weight is evenly distributed, not all resting on your shoulders and middle back. The padded shoulder straps are nice and held together with an adjustable sternum strap. The strap provides a very secure feeling, and no slipping off the shoulders (even when baby isn't in the carrier yet). Then there is the padded waist belt. After much searching, this is the only carrier I could find with these features. Even the expensive ones criss cross in the back, which I personally find very painful.
*Padded shoulder straps for the little one. These are really nice. At first I wasn't sure how necessary these were, but after much use, they are great. Especially in the front forward facing position (and while using on the back, I'm sure).I do find that these get in the way a little while the baby is in the front facing toward you. Although, Brianna now finds them mighty tasty! I guess they serve multiple purposes.
*Side entry buckle. This makes it a "snap" to get her in and out. I use this carrier when I go shopping and it's easy to get her in and out, even in the car. You should have seen me wrestling her into my old one, then you'd understand why this buckle is so great! I first received this carrier from a friend and had some occasional problems fastening the buckle, but haven't had any since buying a newer one.
*Seat back. This provides extra support for the upper body and head. It is especially nice if she happens to fall asleep. You can move it from the front to the back, depending on which way the baby is facing.
*Head bolster. This is a small U shaped pillow that attaches to the seat back (not sure if it comes with all the Easy Comfort Carriers). I don't use this, my baby is 6 months now and her head is too big. I assume it might be nice for small babies.
*Adjustable seat height. There are three height positions. I've only used one, but this is nice for a growing baby. Unfortunately they all do.
*Toy loop. Nice little feature, on most carriers. Although, the shoulder straps seem to be more interesting than any toy I attach!
*Nice padded seat. It looks and feels nice and comfy.
*Removable bib. Another thing that many carriers have.
Why I had to brake out the scissors:
This might not bother some people, but the back support is not removable. The carrier itself provides support, especially since it has the child shoulder straps. I find the back support to be very annoying, not to mention in my face while she is in the front forward facing position. It is only attached at one side (making it reversable from front to back of carrier), so I just cut it loose. It is still nice and secure with it's velcro attachment.
Bottom line:
I love this carrier! I received it from a friend, and compared it to the others that I have. I will never use the others again. There is no comparison. I ended up buying a new one on ebay (much cheaper than the stores). If you want comfort for both of you, try this out. You won't be sorry!
