A Game That Shows Off the Features of the DS Hardware
Date of Review: Dec 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: I recommend this game to ANY DS owner. If you have a DS, do yourself a favor and at least try this game out.
I just purchased my DS recently, and it came with Mario Kart DS. After having played that for awhile, I wanted to see what else I could find for my new system. I heard people talking about Feel The Magic, and decided I would pick it up next.
Graphics:
The graphics are good, nothing spectacular, but not bad by any means. Keeping in mind the DS isn't exactly a powerful system, they did them quite well. No complains here, but nothing to brag about either.
Story:
There is a story here, but its really just an excuse to link a bunch of mini-games together, which I love. The story is basically a guy wants to impress a girl, so he joins a group called "The Rub Rabbits" and performs stunts with them, and of course he saves the girl of his dreams everytime she is kidnapped by the guy in the purple shirt... And thats pretty much the story for you.
Gameplay:
This game is basically a series of mini-games that utilize the many features of the DS. You will find yourself blowing on the touch screen, touching the touch screen, and other things. It is very clear that this game was made JUST for the purpose of showing off all of the cool things that you could do with the DS hardware, and thats not necessarily a bad thing.
A problem I do have with this game though, is that its short, VERY short, it took me around 4 hours to finish the main story mode.
Sure, the game comes with unlockables, but these unlockables are just clothing items for the female in the game. And to get these unlockables, you must replay the minigames again, but on a harder difficulty. And after you finish it on the harder difficulty guess what... Yep, do it again on ANOTHER difficulty level. You also need to find "rabbits" to unlock some of the costumes. The "rabbits" can be found in the minigames. But... You really dont have any motivation to do any of these things. The game was frustrating and hard enough the first time on "normal" difficulty, why would you want to torture yourself playing it two difficulties higher... But thats just me...
Sound:
The music in this game has its own special charm for a while, then just gets annoying, especially if you find yourself replaying the same mini-game over and over again...
Overall:
A great game, definately worth a look, just keep in mind its length before you buy, rent if possible.
