A couple of months ago, I said- hey, go get a paper shredder ours is dead and it's not under warranty anymore and the little extra protection we bought through Office Max was expired too. So, that's how I ended up with Fellowes Powershred PS-77Cs Shredder. Plus it was on sale at the time at Office Max for $99 too. It comes with a 5 year warranty.
This dude is black and then the shredder part is silver. The motor part is super heavy, while the 7 gallon wastebasket is pretty light and I also like that it pulls out like a drawer from under the motor. You'll notice on the slots where you stick paper there are two slots, a longer 9 inch slot for paper, then a smaller slot which is about half the size for DVDs, CDs, & credit cards. With this machine, you can shred 12 sheets of paper at a time, as well as small paper clips and staples. This cuts the paper into confetti strips.
The shredder is pretty easy to use. On the right, you'll see a switch you can flip onto forward, reverse, as well as on auto function. Even though this has a sensor where it will cut off should your hand or other foreign object touch the shredder while in operation, I just like to keep mine off just to be on the safe side since I have young children around. But I will mention that this has a pretty sensitive sensor so it will cut off without a doubt.
On the left, you'll see three icons with little red lights beside them. One is for paper jam, one is for the basket under the machine is out of place, and the third is temperature. I haven't had a problem with it overheating at all, in fact I've used it for 10 minutes at a time and not had a problem.
I haven't had much of a jamming problem with this either- it'll take down whatever I stick in there with no problem. You will notice that this machine runs a little slower than others I've had, but it can take out 12 sheets with no problem.
What I have had a problem with is the basket getting jarred out of place while shredding. Here you are, shredding along, and then all the sudden the light comes on saying the basket is out of place. Sometimes I have to push the basket in with my foot to keep it in place because the motor seems to knock the basket out of whack.
I really like the Fellowes brand. My last shredder was the same brand as well and when it croaked and was still under warranty they sent me another free of charge. This comes with a nice 5 yr warranty as well, and if you can catch this on sale it is a nice buy. Overall, I would recommend it the only trouble we've had is the basket knocking loose, but it will shred anything you put in it with no problem.
