Destination Death

It was movie night and I sat down to rent a pay per view movie. As I watched the titles flash by I saw Final Destination. The name of the movie seemed familiar. After a moment of thought I realized that I had wanted to see this movie when it first came out in the theater and I am really not sure why I never got around to it. I decided it was the prefect choice for my pay per view night. So I ordered the movie and sat back hoping that I was in for the suspenseful ride of my life.

The movie starts off with a teenager getting ready to take a trip to Paris with his high school class. He begins to get really bad vibes about the flight. Several "signs" appear to be warning him of a horrible accident, including the playing of John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High". After boarding the plane he has a premonition about the plane exploding and crashing. The special effects for this part of the movie were great. Because of his vision he and others from the group find themselves being removed from the plane. Lucky for them.

As I am sure you know the plane does explode and there are no survivors. But as we learn in this movie, you can't cheat death. When you mess with the plan of death, it will come back to haunt you.

The teen with a vision is now suspected by the FBI for bombing the plane. Those who escaped death by leaving the plane are now in danger and as the teen begins to have more visions he tries to save his friends and teacher from certain death and the FBI become more suspicious of him. He figures out the order in which they all would have died on the airplane and tries to get death to skip them and move on. If someone interferes with death he believes that they will be free from it's grip. But as the movie ends we are left to wonder if that is actually true.

I really enjoyed this movie and was on the edge of my seat. I will never hear the song "Rocky Mountain High" again without feeling a little spooked about it. The story line was great and easy to follow. There were a few unexpected twists in the plot that made for even more adventure. At the end I was very surprised as things weren't exactly what they had appeared to be. I loved the movie, but hope that there won't be a sequel. Good movies are never any better the second time as they were the first. It made for a very suspenseful scare but a second time around would just be pushing the movie too far.
