A very basic monitor

I bought this monitor expecting as much out of it as I got. It is a very basic monitor. The sound has some static, but not so much that I can't hear my baby start to stir in the morning. The lights work fine and they are on both sides of the receiver. If there is background noise in the room or nearby, you'll see the receiver light up, but its not hard to tell the difference between one rhythmic red light bouncing because the washing machine is on and sporadic lights flashing from my son babbling after he's awakened. The monitor works great for me when I'm in the shower or if I have it plugged in across the room.

Other reviews have said it comes with 2 receivers. The version of this I bought at Target only has one. The name and look is the same so I would recommend checking the detailed information if you buy this online to see if it comes with one or two. I paid $15.00.

I never expected to use this without the plug so I can't say how the batteries work. I keep the base plugged in underneath my son's crib. The base has a big night light on the top that presses on and off. The subdued yellow glow is perfect for coming in to check on my baby without waking him up. My only issue is that the plug attachment falls out of the receiver easily and you have to make sure its in all the way and the power light is on.

Our house is one story with only 1600 sq feet. I haven't really challenged the distance on it and I don't carry around the receiver. This monitor won't meet everyone's needs. You definitely get what you pay for. I'm sure there are better quality monitors out there with more features, but since this has worked out for me, I haven't bothered to upgrade.
