Author's Review
This was the first car my son had ever owned, and it was definitely not a disappointment. He had purchased the car in April 2000, off of a local repair shop that was showcasing it, as someone had asked if they could leave it there until it was sold. We saw this car there, took it for a test drive, and we were impressed. The price was just right, at just $2600. ($5525 Blue Book value) The lady who had owned it no longer needed it, as her son bought a new Eagle Talon to drive to college. We considered this to be a great deal, and my son withdrew the money from his savings account.
This car is a red 1993 Ford Mustang LX Sedan (2 Door). It came nicely equipped for an older model of a car, with features such as Power Windows, Door Locks, and Steering. It had automatic transmission, with a 2.3 Liter 4-Cylinder engine. It also had Tilt Wheel and Cruise Control, a nice addition to this car. Also, it came with the more basic items, such as Air Conditioning, AM/FM Stereo, and cassette tape deck. As far as for safety, it came equipped with airbags and the Seatbelt Restraint System. The only real negative thing that I can say about this car's features is that, as all Mustangs are, a Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle. This '93 model is also the last year they decided to use, as from '94 on the present Mustang look is used. Both look great.
Another thing we loved about this car was its efficiency. I would only have to fill it up a maximum of once or twice per month, (granted my son did not use it for any real long distance trips that he is only a high school senior, but I have traveled long distances with it, and was somewhat impressed) with the car averaging around 30 miles per gallon. In the age where gas prices are skyrocketing, I believe that this truly is an excellent feature.
While not a family car, (only seats 4) it is still an excellent car for your son/daughter to get as a first car. It is very reliable, and my son definitely enjoys driving it everywhere he goes.
Sadly enough though, 3 weeks ago, the car got totaled. He was on his way driving home from school, and a UHAUL van pulled out in front of him. The UHAUL did not have the right of way, and my son didn't have enough time to stop.. For the half of a year that we had the car though, it was a great, reliable car, which I would recommend.
