General Electric 25881 5.8 GHz Twin 1-Line Corded / Cordless Phone

I was excited when I bought this phone. I purchased it at Walmart at a discount for approx. $65.00. This one would be a step down from the Panasonic phone I had that was hit by lightning. At first it seemed to have everything I was looking for that my old Panasonic did not have. Out of the box it seemed cheap made, but so do most phones now. The first problem I noticed was the dim hard to read display on the base and both handsets. The I realized there was no mute button. But the main reason I wrote this review is to warn consumers about the poor sound quality. People can't even hear me half the time on this phone. I'm not a loud talker but I can hear my voice distort in the handset sometimes when I speak. I found myself using the phrase "Can you hear me now?" ON MY HOME PHONE! After many complaints of people telling me they couldn't hear me, I called my cell phone and left a message. Horrible! That is when I decided to write this review. I've had the phone for 3 weeks. I will be returning it.
