Author's Review
The GE Advantium is much more than a microwave. Uses halogen lamps, microwaves, ceramic and coils to heat the food from above and below to cook at up to four times faster than a typical oven. At first my wife was concerned that she wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. But there was no need to figure out how to program since the Speedcook menus guide you through over 175 different type of foods under headings of breads, breakfast, chicken, potatoes, seafood, desserts, meats, snacks, pizza and sandwiches. Now she loves it and we were able to free up limited counter space by getting rid of our counter top convection toaster oven.
Stainless steel interior is easy to clean. Microexpress button lets you use microwave only in 30 second incrememts. So far I have cooked frozen pizza, hamburgers, egg rolls, lamb chops and cookies and they were all cooked to perfection. Bought this at Home Depot during a 10% off sale with free delivery and $20 installation. The advantium was a little bit more expensive than a convection-only microwave but it does so much more. I would recommend this to anyone that needs to replace an over the range microhood. There is a 220 volt model that promises cooking speeds up to 8 times faster than a normal oven. I have owned it for a little over 4 months and realizing that it is a sophisticated piece of equipment, purchased the Home Depot extended service plan for $89, that covers it for 5 years.
