Powerful yet simple to use Microwave

My wife and I finally replaced our slowing dying seven year old microwave and after alot of research decided on the JES1142SJ ge microwave. I really didn't think I would notice much of a difference between our old microwave and our new one, but wow what a difference.

First off the microwave looks very stylish. The stainless so far has not been a pain to clean as I thought it would. The interior of the unit is very easy to clean.

As for the controls: the button layout is simple but if you are like me you usually forget to take advantage of the convenience buttons. The microwave has the following quick options: popcorn, frozen pizza, beverage, reheat, cook, auto defrost, and time defrost. I will speak to only what I have used... the popcorn function. When you press the popcorn button it prefills with a 3.5 ounce package setting, pressing it again will lower it to a 3.0 oz and then again to a 1.75 oz package. We have used this function many times in the short time we have owned the microwave and we consistently get a great bag of popcorn. The other functions work similarly but we have not put them to use yet.

Another great feature is that while something is being nuked you can hit the start button again and add 30 seconds. You are able to adjust the power level easily with a simple power level button. We usually keep ours on high but with 1100 watts of power you can easily overcook so be prepared to make adjustments in cooking time or just don't be lazy like I am and change the power level accordingly.

As for other comments of a "paint" smell we have not noticed any such smell. On the negative side the microwave does tend to vibrate more than our old one did causing some slight rattling noise, especially if anything is touching it but overall the unit seems to be well built. All in all I feel we made a great choice and would recommend the microwave to friends. For simple use like what we put it through it does great and it has alot of advanced cooking options for those who put their microwave to greater use.
