Wish I Had My Old GE Dishwasher Back

by   rybak ,   Feb 20, 2008

Pros:  Looks nice.

Cons:  Does not clean. Noisy. Can't wash pots and pans--they clunk.

The Bottom Line:  I would not buy a GE Profile dishwasher again even though I had a good experience with my previous GE dishwasher that was recalled.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I had a GE Profile dishwasher but it got recalled. It was great. But I thought since it was 7 years old, I would take the $300 rebate and get new one. Wrong choice!

The new one looks nice but does not clean dishes and even if they look clean, I wonder if they really are since there is food residue on other dishes; it's noisy (like rubber rubbing on rubber). This started just recently. Dishes clunk in it. I have to stop the dishwasher move things around and start it--it clunks again. Again I stop it, move, start--still clunks. Finally, I have to stop it, remove dishes one at a time until I find the offending dish or pan and remove it. I have gotten to the point where the only thing I can wash in it are glasses, cups, plates and silverware (and silverware doesn't always come clean (yuck) because it doesn't clean pots and pans. And when I do load pots and pans, they clunk--very annoying.

Have had GE technician out here twice already--I've only had it six months. Of course, they say the water pressure isn't strong enough, the water is not hot enough--but it was okay with the old GE Profile dishwasher.

Anyway, I won't be buying a GE dishwasher anytime soon. I'm not sure I'd take it if they gave it to me.
