Then for the money,this system is hard to beat!I have both the North American and the European City select.The EU CD ROM cost me $300 extra and I have to admit I was a little nervous about my purchase.But as soon as I hit the road in Germany,I realized just how good of a idea this program was.After you load and unlock this program,You are initially worried about the complexity of the program.That lasted 5 min.Because in 10 my friend in the back seat had us on our way to Amsterdam.The voice prompting was 'dead on accurate' and I had W.A.A.S turned off.(EU is not up on W.A.A.S yet,and i think the US has just started)The voice prompting on the program is what make this Package worth it."In 400 meters,enter round-a-bout,then take 3ed exit ".Without this feature,My trip would have been much harder on me.None of us in the car can speak German.(or more importantly, read it!)All you need is a address and two ears,And This thing was getting us to the hotel in the dark.
For under $200, you can get a gps system that will plot your coarse, list gas stations,hotels,dining,points of interest,night clubs and a list of other stuff.My friend took great pleasure in telling me how high I was and how fast we were going.
As i write this,I have not used the North American program yet.But,I cannot see how it could perform any different.In fact, because of W.A.A.S (wide area Augment system)it should be more accurate.And the fact that US city's are MUCH more easy to drive in.
Placement of the ' puck ' Is very important.If you have a means to put it on the roof of the vehicle, do so.Especially if you are going through densely populated city's like NY (or Amsterdam)I did loose satellite reception a handful of times in the narrow streets of these old city's.But the coarse was still on the screen and in a couple of blocks we would pick them up again.
