Author's Review
1. Gone on That Bay - 4/5 - By far, in all my years of amateur rap critiquing, the thing I have discovered is that what holds most albums back is the intro, or the first song. When I first buy a CD, I usually listen to it once, then always skip them because they suck. This was dramatically different in a positive way. Frayser comes out hard from the beginning and doesn;t stop spittin hot lyrics till this CD stops spinnin.
2. Watching Me - 3.5/5 - This song describes the life of Frayser Boy, with people watching his every move, and this is to let them know that they can't stop him. The bass in this song is ridiculous and I'm sure my neighbor agrees with that one. One of my favorite lines in the song: "Feel me throwin these bullets like a n1gga Joe Montana"
3. Nan Notha - 4.75/5 - This song has about everything I like to hear in a song. Tight beat, low bass, lyrics, and coordination of everything. From the first beat of this song, my head is bobbing and I find that I am actually feeling the music. If you had any doubt of Frayser Boy's lyrical talents, doubt no more. He brings street life to the table and he does it in a way that can't be described, only appreciated. Favorite line: "I keep my brain on some change, some change on my brain, whichever way you flip it still gon mean the same thing"
4. Young N!ggaz - 3/5 - The beat to this one is not the best, but it's up there. If you listen to this one it's got scratching in it, which always helps a song out. It's basically just a 'don't mess with me cause my clique is hard' song, and it's the truth.
5. Bloody Murder - 4.5/5 - This song starts off with the sound of a phone ringing, and Frayser Boy answers. It's his boy Juicy J telling him that he got set up by this guy for a robbery. he proceeds to explain how he takes care of the guy, but when he gets there theres a girl with him, and he has to shoot her too so he doesn't leave a witness. Then you hear a helicopter sound and you find out that the neighbors called the cops, and "they'll never take me down I make my own heart stop."
6. I'll Bring Tha Weed - 3.5/5 - This song talks about a day where he's determined to get inebriated, and he's gonna bring the weed if you bring the liquor. Grab them pills, lets pop up...you get the idea. It doesn't sound like it would be very good, but Frayser drops his hard lyrics on top of a nice beat with lots of bass to complete this track.
7. Flickin' - 3/5 - This song is the one of this cd that I could see played on the radio. Its about ridin on something chrome and living the lifestyle that goes along with it. I thought the bass was a little different, but not bad.
8. Pistol Playa - 2.5/5 - If I had to pinpoint one minor downpoint of the CD, this would be it. The lyrics aren't bad, the beat isn't bad, but they kind of clash together. But listen to it, you might like it.
9. I Had to Get'm - 3.5/5 - This song is perfectly placed to draw the listener's attention back after that last one. Frayser Boy is telling you what it was like coming up in the Bay, what he was taught and what it was like. A very informative look into his life, and one of my personal favorite beats off this album.
10. Bay Area - 4/5 - This is a song, again, about Bay Area. It properly introduces you to the man known as Frayser Boy, how he's loyal to the hood he came from, and how he didn't change cause he made it. Lil Wyte is at the end of this with ferocious lines and a real nice beat. Great song.
11. She Swallowed It - 3/5 - Different attitude than we've heard thus far on the album, but good nonetheless. He discusses how much he likes getting chewin' and how he knows that girl was lying the whole time, but she didn't know that he knew.
12. Ooh Wee - 3/5 - Another song about smoking weed. Just the fact that Project Pat "Ballers" is in the beat made me like it even more. He is just letting everyone know that he isn't messing around with bad drugs.
13. Every Day Thang - 2/5 - If Frayser Boy wrote a dummies guide to Live a Day like Frayser, this would be it. He tells abou thow he does it on a day-to-day and how he gets down with his boys.
14. N!ggaz Wild Throwin Bows - 3/5 - This track has more scratchin and mixin than any other on the CD and I feel it was done very well. It matches up with the deep bass and the lyrics just accent it that much more. It perfectly accents the next two songs making for a very potent end-of-the-cd run. Very good track placement.
15. Walk A Mile - 4.75/5 - If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, I would be hard pressed to find competition for this one. It is a mood alterer for me. I listen to it before work to get me ready to deal with stupid people, after work to calm down from stupid people, and while I shower. It is just telling everyone to walk a mile in his shoes before you criticise him. I'll be the first to say I wouldn't volunteer to walk a mile in his giant boots!
16. Wish a Mutha Would - 4.5/5 - The first time I heard this song, i was impressed. This is what I feel is going through this man's head when he thinks about all the people who have treated him bad and disrespected him in his life. It sends a powerful message out interlaced with one of the best Hypnotize beats in a while.
17. Closed Mouth - 3.75/5 - This song is about the people that left Hypnotize, and is basically telling them straight up that if they aren't gonna do anything for their checks, why the hell should they keep getting them? It has a very good beat, with the bass getting progressively lower, something I like to hear.
18. Hydro Weed - 2/5 - This song is not the strongest on the album but it has a super nice beat, a chopped up sound, and excellent lyrics. Many people don't like it, but give it a spin. You may love it.
19. Chewin' - 3/5 - I don't care how many times I hear someone say that this songs played out, it's been recycled, whatever. The only thing that I didn't love about this song is that the treble in the chorus seems obtrusively louder than the rest of the album.
20. Dog Azz N!gga - 4/5 This song is about how Frayser is. Straight up, he says that he's with a girl and she goes on vacation for the weekend. Her friend comes over when shes gone, and of course, they get caught. Kinda predictable storyline, but great lyrics and very very nice beat.
21. H.C.P. - 5/5 - Oh. My. God. Those are the only words I could get out when I heard this song. It is absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt the best 'Posse Song' HCP has ever done. Everybody is on it, and everybody is coming hard. Frayser is last and he devastates the mic with his rhymes. I can't even describe anymore. Just trust me, LISTEN TO THIS!
