Author's Review
When my first daughter was about 11 months old we took a trip to Yellowstone. Being the camper man that my husband is he wanted to camp for 2 weeks. Our daughter was not quite walking yet and we needed somewhere for her to play other than in the dirt.
We borrowed a Graco Pack N Play from our friends and returned it about a year later, LOL. When our second daughter was born we decided that we had to have our own Graco Pack N Play. My mother in law was kind enough to get it for us.
We chose the Graco Bassinet Pack N Play. This is a good choice for parents of infants because the basinet allows baby to be up higher, it is easier to get them out of the Pack N Play because they are close.
What do I like about this product
There are so many great features, I hope I don't forget any.
--Packs up nicely: The Pack N Play folds up into a nice rectangle and can then be put in it's own carrying case with a handle. This helps it to fit in the car easily and makes it easy to carry. It is also easy to store since it doesn't take up mass quantities of space.
--Wheels: There are 2 wheels on one side of the Pack N Play. That makes it easy to wheel it from room to room. We take it to my mother in laws house since we spend weekends there a lot and we can move it from room to room fairly easily.
--Windows, with coverings: The Pack N Play that we borrowed from our friends had 2 mesh windows. This was a HUGE problem for us because when our daughter was in it she could see us and would try and talk to us or play with us. Not good when she should be trying to sleep. She would wake up in the middle of the night and see us in bed and think that it is playtime.
This Pack N Play that we have has a window with a covering on it. You can roll the covering up so baby can see out, or you can leave it down (it snaps in place) so baby cannot see you. The other side goes up against the wall so she can only see the wall.
--Design: I really like the design of this. It is navy blue with little teddy bears on it. Since we were unsure if this would be our last baby I wanted something that was gender neutral.
--Easy to set up: Of course this is one of the most important features. You just open it up, snap the sides together, and push down the bottom. Then you lay down the mattress, which is covered with the sheet they give you, and you are ready to put baby to sleep.
Putting the bassinet part together is easy as well. You put the metal rods in the bassinet part and it snaps into the Pack N Play. Setting up the entire Pack N Play takes about 5 minutes.
What don't I like about it?
--The Sheet: The sheet they give you is very thin. Not the best quality. We ended up buying a couple of sheets that were higher quality. Not really a big deal, but they could provide a thicker sheet.
--Taking it apart: I found that it is a little tricky to take apart. It took me a lot of practice to finally get the knack of it.
I really love this Graco Bassinet Pack N Play. The Bassinet is very practical if you have this from the time your baby is an infant. You will have to decide how long they can use the bassinet. Once they start rolling over and lifting up, or getting too heavy, you might want to stop using the bassinet.
It is very portable, which is great for people who travel or take their babies to Grandma's house a lot. This is when we used it the most. We never used it at home but it sure came in handy at Grandma's.
I highly recommend this Graco Pack N Play. I do want to tell you that some of these Play Yard type products have been recalled. Before you purchase one, please make sure it has not been recalled. This is especially important if you are buying a used one. The reason that we chose Graco is because they had a good safety record. They were not one of the products that had been recalled time after time.
