Author's Review

I originally received a 15 inch monitor with my computer when i bought it all those years ago in 2003. With technology everchanging its difficult to keep up, however luckily monitors dont ever really change 'too' much. They get cheaper and clearer but do not develop anywhere near as fast as the computers to are connected to. My monitor however decided that after being moved from University to home and vice versa many times it would start to play up and change colour randomly. I therefore decided to purchase a new one. I found myself browsing the John lewis selection when this one caught my eye, it was clear, bright and seemed to produce a far clearer picture than the rest. i realised this was because of it clearview technology.

I decided to bite the bullet and purcahsed it for a respectable £150. The monitor itself was ready to go straight from the box, all i had to do was click the stand in place and away i went. The instructions for both assembly and set up were clear and simple, just what i like!

The brightview technology is superior to a standard CRT or even 99% of LCD monitors i have seen, the picture is clear and crisp and shows photos off magnificently. A small downfall is that sometimes when reading text it can be slightly blurry, but all you need to do then is use the auto picture button and select text, sorted, this only happens once in a month if that.

The 1000:1 contrast ratio is fine for this sized screen, blacks are brilliantly black and highlight the colours, the clearscreen is clearly the way forward in the future. I would suggest this Monitor too all but especially those who play computer game, watch tv or films on their comp, not neccessary for those who just use the internet etc.

The black rim around the edge also highlights the picture, similar to the samsung TV's that have a black polished surround, it does however suffer from the same problem as the Samsung tele's, it attracts dust very easily and regularly needs a wipe down. However, i do find the rim a bit strange because it is slightly detached around the edge to give a slightly unfinished feel...

The monitor does however come with built in speakers and a aduio input cable for you to connect it up with, although i have a 5.1 system connected i did test the speakers and they are quite acceptable, good if you want to save storage space and remove your old speakers.

Overall a lovely monitor worth the price tag, you wont be dissapointed. The 22 inch version might be better for those wanting to use it to watch films but this size is about right for general ocmputer usage.
